A and B Shifts run Pin-in at shift change

Station 3 was dispatched to an early morning accident with possible injuries. Engine 30 along with Ladder 31, Car 30, and Car 31 responded to the incident. Engine 30 arrived to find a two vehicle MVA involving a commerical vehicle and passenger car. Capt. Keever assumed fire command and advised incoming units that this would be a pin-in, and for communications to check the availabilty of flight service. Ladder 31 arrived second, along with Car 30 and Car 31. Fire crews began extrication on the patient who was trapt by the legs. The roof was removed from the vehicle in order to gain better access for patient care. The doors on the drivers side were then removed, along with the B-post, and the patient was declared "free from the vehicle". The extrication took approximately 10 minutes to complete. The patient was then packaged and loaded into a Lincoln County EMS unit, and transported to the LZ. The patient was then transported to CMC Main via helicopter. Firefighters were assisted by the time of day. The incident occured at shift change, effectively doubling the manpower available to assist with rescue operations.

Water Main Break

East Lincoln Fire units responded to investigate a possible water main break. Upon arrival Car 31 reported 12 inches of water running across the roadway. Highway 16 was shut down due to the amount of water running across the roadway, and the danger of the water undercutting the roadway and creating a sink hole. Lincoln County Water Dept. and NC DOT responded to repair the water line, and to put up barricades to block traffic. All station 3 units were returned to service at approximately 12:30.


 
   
   
1050 Hwy. 16 and Old Plank Rd.

Station 3 units were dispatched to a 1050 PI, motorcycle versus a car. Engine 30 arrived to find a single male patients lying on the side of the road. The patient was transported to the hospital by Lincoln EMS with non life threatening injuries. The motorcycle hit a car in the drivers door, knocking the rider off. The motorcycle then traveled across the median and through a parking lot before smashing through the glass doors of a dance studio. The building inspector was requested in order to insure the structure was safe. Station 3 units were returned to service at 17:36.


 
   
   
Structure Fire

Station 3 units were dispatched to assist Alexis Fire Dept. with a reported structure fire. Engine 33 and Tanker 32 responded with 7 firefighters to assist with the incident. The first arriving unit checked on scene with smoke showing from the structure. Alexis personel made the initial fire attack and found heavy smoke conditions inside the structure. Engine 33's personel were assigned to ventilate the structure. The incident was brought under control within 20 minutes. All units were returned to service at approximately 04:20.


 
   
   
1050 Hwy. 16 and Unity Church

Station 3 units responded to a 4 vehicle MVA, unknown injuries. Engine 30, along with Ladder 31, responded to a rear end collision with moderate damage. Upon arrival Engine 30 found a single patient with non life threatening injuries. The south bound lane of business Hwy. 16 had to be shut down for a short period of time in order to clean up fluid leaks and clear the roadway. All units were returned to service at 17:02.


 
   
   
East Lincoln Fire Department participates in Catawba Springs Elementary School End Of The Year Fun Day

The Crews from Engine 30 and Ladder 31 participated in Catawba Springs Elementary School's end of the year fun day.  Kids of all ages and even some of the teachers were cooled off by the spray from the Ladder Pipe as an end of the year treat.


 
   
   
Structure Fire
Monday, April 11, 2011

East Lincoln, Denver, and Huntersville Fire units were dispatched to a structure fire on Unity Church. Upon arrival Engine 30 arrived to find light smoke coming from the back of the structure. After investigation, a small fire was discovered in the kitchen. Engine 30's crew made the intial fire attack and knocked the fire down within minutes. The stove was pulled away from the wall, and the hood vent was removed to check for extension. No extension was found in the wall, or in the roof area. The meter was pulled from the back of the residence, and Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.


 
   
   
1050 PI Hwy. 73

Station 3 units were dispatched to a 1050 with possible injuries. Engine 30 was the first unit to arrive and found two vehicle, head on collision, both with heavy damage. Fire crews checked both vehicles and found that all patients were free from their vehicles. Fire personel assisted with packaging and loading patients, both were transported by EMS. Fire crews remained on scene until the roadway could be cleared of debris.


 
   
   
1050 PI S. Little Egypt

East Lincoln units were dispatched to a 1050, possible PI, vehicle down an enbankment. Upon arrival Engine 30 found a single vehicle that left the roadway, and struck a tree. There were no injuries, and fire units handled traffic control until Highway Patrol arrived.
